mft-pi-275_524_general mft-1311_2018_thumbShake it Up Summer –  Blog Hop is a  shaker themed  blog hop. I thought a beach themed shaker would be a great addition to the hop.

My Favorite Things Beach Cutie Stamp Set   came to mind . It’s part of the Pure Innocence line   and perfect for a summer  blog hop. MFT’s Beach Cutie has a  co ordinating die.

Ink to Paper:

Memento Tuxedo Black Ink , (alcohol marker  friendly ink) was used to ink the  image and it was stamped  on to alcohol ink   friendly paper.   Copic markers  were used to colour the image . (Tunic, shorts, sandals, beach bag, flower and hat band – Yellow Red:   YR 02, YR 04, YR 07, YR 09,   YR 16, YR 18  Blue Green : BG 70, BG 72, BG 75, BG 78  Cool Grey: C 2 ,C 4 ,C6  Yellow Y 08, Y 38. Skin:   E 01, E02, E 04 , E50, E51. Sun Hat : E  30, E 31, E 33, E 35.  Hair: E 23, E 25, E 31).

A smidgeon of Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive was  applied to the bottom of the sandals and they were  dipped into  dry clean sand.

Apply a very small amount  of Glossy Accents  was added to the flower centre and the dots of the eyes.

Shaker Assembly:

Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Dies Set  was used to make a frame.  Placing  one inside the other   (largest and second largest die). They were held together with  Post -it Tape.  The frame  was  then secured to  a sheet of  Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes 6 x 6 Paper  and run through the Gemini to cut the  frame .    The negative piece  was set aside for the shaker backing.

A window sheet (or acetate) was cut  with  the  largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Die  and   trimmed at the stitch marks.

Neenah Desert Storm Card stock was  trimmed to a top fold portrait card (11- 1/2 x 4- 1/4 ” ,   scored  at 5-1/2 “).  The remaining half sheet is cut into two pieces( 5- 3/5  x 4- 3/16) –  front and inside panel. One panel and card base were set aside.

The remaining panel was the front card panel. Adhere  the frame negative piece , centred , directly to the  front panel with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. Ranger Foam Strips are applied to the perimeter of this piece. Adding  two  layers in total  (ensure there are no gaps and the seams are staggered).

Remove the backing of the  Ranger Foam Tape.  Carefully add a  selection of micro beads, seed beads,  chunky glitter, sequins  and fine glitter  etc. to  the well made by the Foam Tape . Add  the  trimmed window sheet from the bottom to top  onto the foam tape in one swoop ( make sure to align  evenly) press down. Apply Be Creative Tape to the frame, add  this to the top of  the window sheet.

Apply Be Creative Tape to the back of  MFT’s  Beach Cutie , adding her  to the bottom left hand side of the shaker portion.

Stamp “Love You to the Beach & Back” with Memento Hot Cocoa Ink  on   Neenah Desert Storm. Trim  the length  to  fit the text and the width,  the same as the  shaker element. Run a bead of Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive on  the bottom of the sentiment strip and sprinkle with  sand.  Shake off the  excess.

Trim a strip of  Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes  paper to 1/8 x 4- 3/16″. Add a bead of  Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive to the bottom of the inside panel. Attach the strip to the edge with the  glue.   Centre  ” You Put the Shine in Sunshine”  and stamp with Memento Hot Cocoa Ink onto  the  inside panel.  Adhere  this  panel to  inside  the card base with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive..

Apply low profile foam squares to ” Love You to the Beach & Back”  sentiment strip and attach  1/8″ down  from the top of the shaker element. Adhere the front panel to the card front. The card is now complete.

MFT makes some very cute images. Your used of the microbeads really ties in the beach theme. The blue tones shout water. Great card.

Cindy Holmes

What a precious card! I really love the sentiment that you used! Very cool and unique style shaker card! And your coloring is just so fantastic too!

Jane McGill

OMG , This is the sweetest card. I love the combo of shaker bits and how they separate and look just like the bottom of the ocean. The little girl is so cute with the sand on her toes.

Darlene Fellows

Wow! Love this card!! What a great way to really make it feel like summer using sand like that. 🙂
