smp-ssc1249_596_thumbThe fog  has been thick and heavy without a speck of sunshine. Unseasonably  cold and damp.  However,  as I started to  play with  Stampendous  Winter Stack  Stamp Set   to prepare for  Christmas in July , a funny thing happened. The fog dissipated, somewhat.

Had I thought for a second this was a possibility,  I would have inked  Stampendous  Winter Stack  Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black at the end of June.

 Christmas in July Project:

A panel was cut to fit a top fold landscape card  ( 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 or 10.7 x 13.7 cm) from a Copic friendly card stock. I stamped  the images with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad  to make a scene using the masking technique.  The image I wanted  in front of the scene was stamped first

Blending a Night Sky:

I made sure the masks were secure and that they  completely covered the  stamped images  prior to blending a night sky.  I gathered  Shaded Lilac Distress InkDusty Concord Distress Ink , Wilted Violet Distress Ink , Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink and Black Soot Distress Ink .  Using  Mini Blending Foam Pads and Mini Blending Tools. I saturated the foam with Distress Ink prior to bringing  the  blending tools to the paper.

I applied the lightest Distress Ink around the images ( Shaded Lilac Distress Ink ), to  darkest ( Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink), and then adding Black Soot Distress Ink lightly around the perimeter.

The optimal blend was a glow around the images,  an appearance of  etherealness.  Once  I  achieved this,  I set the panel aside, allowing the Distress Ink to set before removing the masks.  (Sometimes if  a surface  is saturated with Distress Ink , placing your fingers on  the wet surface  causes finger marks. These  are almost impossible to remove without reworking the area.)

Finishing the Night Sky:

A drop or two of  Picket Fence Distress Ink Refill  and droplets of  water from Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer were mixed together. A brush from   Artist Brush Set  was used to pick up the solution and splattered it onto the panel.   Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Overlay  Pen was also used to add  sparkly droplets to the panel .

Once dry, a Tim Holtz Retractable Craft Pick was used to carefully remove the masks.

Copic Colouring:

Colour was added with Copic Markers to  all the images.  Working  from dark to light.

Reds – sweaters  and toques , cheek : R35, R24,  R20, R14. Greens – scarfs, sweater, toque : YG09, YG07, YG05. Oranges and yellow – carrot: YR 09, YR 07, YR 04, Y38. Blue –  mitts, sweater, toque, snowmen : BG01, B00, B000, B0000, B21, B23, B24. Blue Violet – Shading: BV00, BV0000.

Finishing Touches:

Layered Sequins  (from my stash) were added to  two toques and a bell to the remaining toque.  Ranger Glossy Accents  which had a Scrap Perfect No Clog Writing Tip attached for precision placement was used.

Copic Opaque White  Ink was used as a base  on the bottom of the card panel. Nuvo MoonStone Glitter Paste was added over the dried white ink.  Iridescent Powder and Diamond Dust ( from my stash were sprinkled over the wet Nuvo MoonStone Glitter Paste .

Another round of Sparkle and Snow was added  ( Zig Wink of Stella , Clear  and Picket Fence Distress Ink Refill ) spattering both  over the images.

A  top fold landscape card was cut and scored. An inside panel was trimmed to 4 x 5-1/4″ and stamped with Memento Paris Dusk Ink ” We Wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year” .  A  1 mm strip of Navy Shimmer Card Stock  was adhered with Be Creative  Tape 5mm  .  A tiny strip a White Glitter Card Stock was attached with Ranger Glossy Accents  with  Scrap Perfect No Clog Writing Tip.

Nuvo Deluxe  Liquid Adhesive  was used to attach the inside panel to  inside  of the card base. Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive  adhered  White  Glitter Card Stock   to cover  the card front . The finished  panel had  strategically placed  Be Creative 5mm Tape , on the back. It was centred  and evenly spaced prior to removing   the tapes release paper . The tape was burnished it into  Glitter  Card Stock  on the front card base.

This completes this card.
